Back in time

So in science this week. .technically last week, we were learning and studying creation, evolution, dinosaurs. We were learning the difference between the beliefs and did dinosaurs really live.  Answer: yes they did.  Our belief: historical biblical account

Anyway across the river at the planetarium they had the dinosaur in motion exhibit, so I thought it fun to do that for a field trip! Everything was made fromdissent routes of metals and pullies and levers to make them move, some used old Playstation handheld to do it which was very cool! In all it was fun to see where a majority of dinos were located. I really hope Walking With The Dinosaurs comes back to town cause I think the kiddos would love it!

4 th grade & toddler days

So. ..it is officially 2015-2016 school year. Hmmmm where had this time gone? Our son is 10 and the once infant is now turning toddler in 4 months! Craziness! I am learning a lot about myself more than anything, like. ..I realize that now seeing an end time to finish school I am much more laid back. Seriously! We do school ALL day long, however we do have long breaks throughout. So far John hasn't complained so I think this is good.
I also have joined a Co op this year in the hope I cam connect with other moms for that support. I will be watching the little kids which will be nice for baby V to have that interaction, AND of course John gets a some time with other kids learning the same subjects he is!
The one photo is at the Caterpillar museum and that is my Littles in front of a mine truck tire. The other photo was our project this week of learning the world cake, focusing on continents and oceans! Mmmmmm love the edible stuff. .lol

Math u see

I must brag about this product! I really do love it and how the grade level system is the Greek alphabet instead of kindergarten, first, ect. Basically you master each level before you move on! This works so much better and the manipulatives are great too. John had gotten such a better handle of subtraction with it then the other curriculum we used in the passed. For me it is all about his mastering a subject not what grade he is in. Anyway I just had to spread the word!

Learning can be fun!

So it this last 5 week of science we are studying space and what is used to look up at it. Well telescopes use reflection; what better way to learn about reflection than to play the game Laser Beam! It actually is a fun game and I am sure we will use it for other things, but for now this is our fun time. I think it was the only day this week that I didn't hear "I hate school"this week! So yay for me! I also found books on the mid Atlantic states at the library that we will read through next week

I am slowly (like turtle slow)figuring out how to incorporate other resources to help learn. I am also realizing that it is easier with some subjects than others. .lol

Omg!it had been a year?

Well I am really slacking! So I will just do cliff note version. ..

JD is third grade but second gr for spelling which I think wad a good move. Switched curriculum again but works much better for us so I think I found the right one. It goes like this :
3rd grade
Language-horizon
History-life pac
Science-sonlight
Math u see alpha at end of it
2nd grade
Writing
Spelling
Both are horizon
Doing a lot better and feeling like we have a routine which consists of school only 4 days instead of 5 and use Friday as make up day. .still sometimes challenging with a toddler now but we are getting the knack.  You will see that I used color for calendar months so hopefully baby V will eventually pick up on this as she grows. (Never to young to start right? )also for history started a chat of capital and stays to review each day;it is amazing how much I am learning along with my son in all of this!
